A freshly sawn log and the lumber made from it contain natural moisture in the range of 50% to 100%. When drying the wood once the moisture level reaches about 30%, the lumber changes its geometric dimensions. When carrying out construction work with non-dried lumber, this aspect of drying must be taken into account.
